The successful candidate will possess a robust background in data protection, a strong desire to help continue to build and enhance the companies data privacy compliance programme, a solutions-oriented approach to providing legal advice, and a willingness to keep abreast of new technologies and developing privacy regulations around the world.

Further, the successful candidate is both a team player who values collaboration and a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, including to manage external local counsel and budgets. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as are a sense of humour and the ability to work with other department members and company clients in a global environment.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in European data protection and data security laws and regulations (additional experience with non-EU regulatory regimes preferred).
  • Ability to learn more about laws in key global territories, with the support of Regional Counsel when needed.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and people skills.
  • Ability to engage in practical evaluations and explanations of risks (including incident response management) and engage in collaborative problem-solving.
  • Ability to negotiate data protection clauses in agreements.
  • Flexibility and willingness to seek out and learn new technologies and to implement knowledge-sharing practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, international/multi-jurisdiction experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines.
