A fantastic opportunity for a junior commercial lawyer to join the Group Legal department of the UK's primary global provider of knowledge (including standards and standardisation products), assurance, compliance and ancillary services to clients. With a presence on every continent, with almost 90 offices in over 30 countries across the world and clients ranging from globally recognised brands to small, local businesses across more than 180 countries, this vital role will be accountable for the successful and timely delivery of legal services to all areas of the business. As it continues to work with all industries, businesses, governments and consumers to develop standards as well as share knowledge, innovation and best practice to help businesses improve performance, reduce risk and achieve sustainable growth, you will be required to provide legal and commercial expertise to the Group function.
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will lead negotiations with key vendors on a range of commercial contracts, varying in form from recruitment terms and social media contracts through to high value IT contracts, sponsorship agreements and working with senior business unit leaders on complex negotiations across the consulting services business. In this varied position, you will be encouraged to shape the role depending on your interests, whether that be taking responsibility for GDPR, employment or IP matters for example. Further, you will benefit from the opportunity to advise key internal stakeholders on a variety of global legal and compliance matters, as well as carrying out due diligence on corporate matters when required.
Ideally, you will be a recent NQ or have up to 3 years PQE, with strong training or post-qualification experience either in-house (secondment or other) or at a leading law firm. Experience working in a company with a focus on providing business services in a multinational environment would be desirable but is not essential. An interest in technology, AI and the built environment would be a benefit and you will need to demonstrate a passion for your work and be a strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
